Submissions
We publish authentic African and/or Caribbean fiction, narrative non-fiction, and creative non-fiction. These include novels, poetry, memoirs, essays, historical narratives, and biographies.
We believe that rhythm is a large part of writing well. Therefore, a Wakonté Books publication must have a distinct sense of rhythm. It ebbs and flows, and stops abrupt. It runs on in excitement, and is curt in displeasure. It is the rhythm of accents and the rhythm of tongues.
Beyond rhythm, a Wakonté Books publication is set apart in the way it captures the vagaries of African and Caribbean life. It strays from imitation, is full of color and life, yet not devoid of balance.
