Wakonté Fund
At Wakonté Books, we believe that storytelling is more than just words on a page—it’s a powerful tool for shaping narratives, preserving culture, and building economic opportunities for African and Caribbean creators. The Wakonté Fund was established as a direct commitment to reinvesting in the communities we celebrate, ensuring that the voices of African and Caribbean authors are not only heard but also supported.
This fund is fueled by multiple streams:
- 25% of the sales from our Reparations imprint, which republishes public domain works from American and European authors within an African and Caribbean context.
- $0.25 USD from the sale of every book across all our other imprints, ensuring that every purchase contributes to a cycle of literary empowerment.
- Donations from individuals who believe in our mission and want to support the future of African and Caribbean literature.
